Pitta types should stick to tastes and flavors like sweet, bitter and astringent. Pitta types favor cool food and liquids over hot and spicy food. Diary products is a great option since it will cool down the innate fiery attitude. Signs of imbalance in Pitta includes Diarrhea, excessive hunger, heartburn and bacterial infections. Alcohol, oily and spicy food, fermented food can create an imbalance. They are down to earth and happy and rarely loose emotional balance. Kapha types have a slower and heavier digestion. Stimulation of all kinds can help in beating the slow and lethargic feeling that Kapha types feel. An imbalance of the Kapha dosha leads to sluggish bowels, water retention, weight gain, excessive sleep and other such problems. A light, low-fat, warm diet with pungent, bitter and astringent tastes are advisable for Kapha types. Boiled and steamed vegetables, ripe fruits, honey are great diet options to keep the Kapha dosha is in control. Mild spices and calming herbal teas with peppermint, raspberry, and fenugreek are perfect staples.
